Eldon Pletcher was born in Goshen, Indiana on Sept. 10, 1922. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts from 1941-1942, the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) from 1946-1947, and the John Herron Art School (Indianapolis) from 1946-1947. Pletcher began his cartooning career at the Sioux City Journal (Iowa) from 1949-1966. He next moved to the New Orleans Times-Picayune and worked there from 1966-1985.
